The Costa Brava is officially 100 yrs old on the 12 September 2008 and to commemorate the event there will be a whole year of activities organised.
The name and idea of promoting the beautiful and wild cost of Girona came about in a correspondence between two famous Barcelona journalists where they described the virtues of the coast, some of the towns and beaches as well as food and culture back in 1908.
The Costa Brava is 220kms long and stretches from the French border at Portbou in the North to Blanes in the South. Along its length are mountains, natural parks, plenty of coves and beaches, botanical gardens and some of the best preserved fishing villages and tourist facilities.
Some of the events planned include concerts, re-publishing some of the most famous guide books of the area, maps and audiovisual exhibitions and even a special centenary menu.
